Who runs this

ScopeLetter is built and run by Thomas Hollar in Tallahassee, Florida. One person, not a call centre, and the number below is answered by him.

What it actually does

Every FDOT letting publishes a Bid Solicitation Notice and, closer to bid day, a list of the contractors who have pulled plans. Both are public. ScopeLetter reads the notice to work out what trades the job contains and in what quantity, reads the planholder list to see who is bidding it, and puts those two things together.

If the work contains your trade, you get the project and the estimators at every general contractor holding plans on it. You approve a note to each, and it sends from your own mailbox, not ours.

What it is not

• Not a lead list. The projects are ones currently out for bid, and the contractors are ones confirmed to be bidding that specific job.
• Not a mass mailer. Nothing sends without you approving it, an estimator hears from us at most twice a fortnight across all customers, and one opt-out stops their firm permanently.
• Not a bid service. We do not quote, price or submit anything on your behalf. You are introducing yourself; the rest is your business.

Where the data comes from

Public agency pages only. We honour robots.txt, identify ourselves honestly in every request, and never touch anything behind a login. We link to agency documents rather than rehosting them, because they are the agency’s to publish.

We are not affiliated with FDOT or any government agency, and nothing here should be read as a statement on their behalf.
